The market currently offers a wide variety of concrete pump pipes with diverse quality and prices. Most of them meet the criteria for origin and provenance. However, there are still some unreliable distributors selling low-quality, unverified concrete pump pipes at quite cheap prices. Besides engine performance, the pump pipe component plays a very important role for concrete pump trucks. If the quality of the concrete pump pipe is good, it will extend its lifespan and working efficiency. It also saves replacement and repair costs and ensures labor safety.

Based on structural characteristics, concrete pump pipes can be divided into the following types:

– Single-layer pipe: this is the standard type currently installed on EVERDIGM concrete pump trucks.

– Double-layer pipe (Twin wall pipe).

– Heat-treated Chrome-plated pipe.

– ED523 pipe

CHARACTERISTICS OF DOUBLE-LAYER CONCRETE PUMP PIPES

– High lifespan, extremely hard, and highly corrosion-resistant.

– The pipe is manufactured with two separate layers. The inner layer is made of a special material with high abrasion resistance during friction with concrete moving inside the pipe. Meanwhile, the outer layer functions as insulation, protection, and resistance against external impacts that could affect the inner pipe layer.

– The inner pipe layer (Layer 1) is made of a special solid material, distinctly different from the material used for the outer layer.

– The material of this first layer is extremely hard and capable of resisting abrasion, chemical corrosion, high temperatures due to high concrete friction, and high pressure generated during the pumping process.

– Layer 1 is manufactured based on a strict heat treatment process to ensure good durability.

 Double-layer concrete pump pipes can withstand significant pressure formed by the movement of concrete inside the pipe. However, this type of pipe cannot withstand large direct external impacts/strong collisions. Therefore, the pipe can be dented or broken if subjected to strong impacts or damaged due to poor storage or transportation conditions.

 

HEAT-TREATED CHROME-PLATED PIPES

DESIGN CREATES DIFFERENTIATED QUALITY

– This type of concrete pump pipe has a lifespan of up to 80,000m3 of concrete compared to 10,000m3 for conventional pipes. Additionally, the weight of this pipe is only 40kg compared to 52kg for other average pipes.

– Chrome Carbide powder is heated to a melting temperature of over 2000 °C. It then automatically reacts with the inner surface of the pump pipe.

– Quality may be unstable during the manufacturing process. Hardness may vary depending on the position where the Chrome Carbide powder is rotated and spread inside the pipe.

– Heat-treated Chrome-plated pipes are currently still being tested and continuously improved for quality.
